Life consists of a queue of problems which need to get solved. If you solve one problem it doesn’t mean that you don’t have any problems anymore.
You have to get used to having problems or challenges your whole life. It could be a task at work, a relationship with a person or a lack of money.
If you solve the problem like not having enough money, then you will get to the next challenge: keeping the money or saving the money.
The problems just get better, but they never go away.
Rich people also have problems, like how to store the money or the valuable things. We wish to have those problems when we are poor, but if you get there they will feel as challenging as the getting of money when you are poor.
You will never be able to solve all your problems. And actually you don’t want to. Why? Because then life would be boring or you are dead.
If you have friends, family and partners then you will always have some challenges with them. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
At some point maybe you have problems at work, but at home everything is fine.
The challenges of life are changing based on your environment and they are also changing and growing with you. Important to note is that you should work on getting better problems, and figuring out unimportant problems you don’t need to solve.
“All life is problem solving”
— Karl Popper
Problems Are Positive Things
A problem is a challenge in your life. It’s not a negative thing.
Challenging problems are the reason you are growing and learning. Running on an even and straight road will not give you strength, bumps, ups and downs and turns those will challenge you and you will learn the most.
Have you ever heard the story about the trees? The strongest trees are the ones which have to face the strongest weather. They need to be strong and steady to survive the strong winds, the biggest floods, the strongest earthquakes.
Through those big challenges a person is growing too like a tree. You have to go through hard times and big problems to come out of it strong into happier and more successful moments.
“Whatever makes you uncomfortable is your biggest opportunity for growth.”
Bryant H. McGill
Without Problems You Would Not Have The Chance to Grow
Through problems and challenges we grow. Without growth we would stand still, and that actually means you are going backwards or you’re dead.
People will grow beyond you if you also don’t grow. Standing still and doing the same things over and over again is the worst you can do at life. And don’t you think it’s boring too?
Most of the problems are not nice or comfortable, but comfortable is not moving you forward. You will learn nothing in your comfort zone, because you already know everything there.
I always picture the comfort zone as a living room. You are familiar with all the furniture and the decoration. Sometimes you get a glimpse of outside your comfort zone through your TV or through your window. But as long as you don’t go out of your living room you will not grow, you will not enjoy life and you will not have any challenges.
Your living room is neutral. It’s neither good or bad. It’s just plain. Do you want your life to be plain? Doesn’t that sound boring?
Life Begins At The End Of Your Comfort Zone
I like this mantra. I’m not a person who likes adrenaline, but I like to meet new people, try new stuff and I really like to grow.
At the moment I’m actually obsessed with reading and learning as much as possible, as my online career is starting.
My comfort zone is growing. I’m growing.
It’s not easy to get out of your living room, and it will be uncomfortable. But as soon as you get out there you will feel alive, you will experience great moments with great new people.
Life is extraordinary. You just have to get out there and live it.
It doesn’t have to be dangerous or with a lot of adrenaline. Just stepping out of your living room, experiencing new things, going on conferences, networking, traveling… doesn’t matter what you are doing or where your comfort zone ends. It’s important that you start and you will continue growing.
“It’s only after you’ve stepped out of your comfort zone that you begin to change, grow and transform.”
— Roy T. Bennett
Thanks for reading!
I love to write about the comfort zone, as I also stepped out of it yesterday again by going to conference on my own. It was a really great and inspiring experience. I’m so glad I was able to experience that.
