Why Taking Action Beats Intelligence In The Pursuit Of Success

Do you see successful people online and think: I’m smarter than them?

Do you see successful people online and think: they are not really that smart? They are just taking action!

In today’s world (and I’m guessing in the future too), knowing everything about World War II or having an A on the vocabulary test is not important anymore.

Because the internet, and now AI, know all those things, you can research them within minutes. Having exams about facts that you can Google is pointless these days.

Those students who have As on those exams can be the smartest in their class but also the dumbest. And I’m one of them.

I overthink, over-analyze, and plan too much.

The not-so-smart people making a lot of money are way ahead of us because they didn’t overthink or plan.

Do you know what they did?

They are taking action!

When Robin Sharma (author of “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” or “The 5 AM Club”) got asked how to start writing a book, he answered: “Just start!”

And that’s what school-smart people like me miss: just starting and figuring it out on the way.

They went straight into

  • taking action,
  • learning,
  • failing,
  • adjusting,
  • getting feedback,
  • and learning.

Taking action triumphs intelligent people who are still in the planning phase. They are way ahead because they tried, failed, and at some point, succeeded.

I like planning, so I was one of those struggling to come up with plans and hesitant to just post anything online.

I was an intelligent person, worrying about what other people might think if it’s risky, and what the best way is to not fail.

I worried about all the worst things that could happen when I started writing online.

From leaking naked photos (even though I don’t have any ) to getting bullied by internet trolls.

I think I had bad dreams about everything that could go wrong.

But at some point, I said: F*ck it!

I just do it!

I started publishing my writing online.

And you know what happened: nobody cared!

Since then, I’ve grown, I’ve failed, and nobody cared.

Change Your Mindset

Overthinking and worrying come from a negative mindset. Thinking of everything that could happen will let you see all the negative things in the world.

Going through life and worrying about all the bad outcomes is not a pleasurable way to live. I didn’t want to live like this. For a few years now, I’ve been working on my mindset.

By applying those 3 strategies:

  • surrounding myself with positive people
  • practicing positive self-talk
  • engaging in activities that bring joy

Instead of worrying and having bad dreams, I’m practicing positive self-talk daily.

Every evening before I go to bed, I think about 3 things I’m grateful for.
And part of my morning routine is standing in front of my mirror and saying my positive affirmations, and I visualize my dream future and myself in it.

Based on those daily habits, my mind knows where I want to go and shows me opportunities to get there.

I see life as more positive now.

Instead of thinking about what can go wrong, I see opportunities to grow.

Last year, I took a big step:

I started posting on Instagram now. After thinking through my vision, writing, and target group, I saw they are on Instagram and not on X.

I was scared.

I worried about what people would think (because all my friends would see it) but my goal is to make social media more positive, and everyone deserves to see that.

And what happened?

Friends told me that they really love what I’m posting. It’s motivating, and I’ve grown and learned a lot already.

Sometimes our heads are full of worries and negative thoughts, and they keep us from taking action. While others are ahead because they already made the first steps.

“The path to success is to take massive, determined actions.”

Tony Robbins

Conclusion

Are you thinking of something you want to do for a long time?
But you are worried and overthinking?

Just do it!*

*Great slogan by Nike, by the way!

You have to start taking action and taking risks to get the success you want!

I know we are too scared to fail sometimes, but failure is a good thing!

And trust me when I say: other people don’t care about you and your failures that much.

This is about you, your future, and your success!

Do you want success? Start now!
