The Positivity Framework: 3 Strategies to Rewire Your Mind for Lasting Change

In this negative world of ours, positivity is hard to find if you don’t have your mind set on it

In this negative world of ours, positivity is hard to find if you don’t have your mind set on it.

Training your brain to see more positivity is easier than you expect and can make your days happier.

Remember: You cannot change the negativity in the world, but you can change your view of it. Accept the things you can’t change, and change the ones you can!

Benjamin P. Hardy is talking a lot about the changes you have to make to become the future self you want to be. That means you have to let go of 80% of your current life because only 20% are beneficial or staying with your future self.

The habits and decisions that made you who you are today are not the ones who are helping to get to your future self.

With these 3 strategies, you can re-program your mind to more positivity:

1. Surround Yourself With Positive People

Positive people are full of energy which can inspire and uplift you. Their mindset is positive and they see the world always from its best side.

Get infected by this positivity.

And as harsh as it may sound: let go of negative people. It could be your best friend who sees the devil in everyone. You cannot change her, but you can let her affect you less by decreasing the time spent together.

Instead, you find people who are lifting you up, believing in you, and helping you improve and grow.

You have to make hard decisions to move on.

You cannot change the attitude of others. You can change the people you surround yourself with.

If you are stuck with the same people in the same surrounding, maybe think about moving away. Find yourself new locations and new people!

“We are what we see. We are products of our surroundings.”
— Amber Valletta

2. Practice Positive Self-Talk

A big part of changing your mindset is replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. This takes a daily commitment to practice positive self-talk.

Add it to your morning routine to say a few positive affirmations to yourself in front of the mirror.

Google some affirmations and choose some that speak to you personally.

Here are a few of mine as an example:

  • “You are strong”
  • “Giving up is not an option”
  • “I will be wealthy”
  • “I trust the universe”

Go into the Superman position and speak your affirmations confidently.

It may seem silly or unnecessary but trust me, they help you re-program your consciousness.

Another point to add to your daily routine is thinking about 3 things you are grateful for.

You can do it in the morning or in the evening but think of 3 different things every day. Bonus points for writing them down.

At the end of each day, we usually remember the bad things happening to us because we are analyzing and overthinking them.

But re-program your consciousness to think of the positive things in life for which you are grateful, and you will realize how blessed you are.

“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.”
— Eckhart Tolle

3. Engage in Activities That Bring You Joy

With our busy life, we usually forget to do activities that bring us joy. We have to be effective and we always have a lot to do.

Stop for a minute every week to do something you enjoy!

Your choice! But not just watching TV for a few hours.

It could be:

  • Going to brunch with friends
  • Going for a hike
  • Doing a picnic
  • Going swimming
  • Going to a museum

There are so many great things you can do to boost your mood! As kids, we did whatever looked fun, but as a grown-up, we are stuck in our routines and forget to have fun too!

“By changing our mindset and habits, we can actually dramatically change the course of life, improve intelligence, productivity, improve the quality of our lives, and improve every single education and business outcome.”

— Shawn Achor

Daily habits of positivity will change your mindset really fast. You will see!

The key is to work on it until it becomes a habit consistently.
