How To Stop Having a Boring Life

  • Post category:General

My life is boring. That’s just how it is right now.

I’m a normal student and I’m living in a big city where I don’t know many people.

That sums up my last weekend pretty much.

I had not much to do and I was too lazy to study for university.

After that weekend I decided to never have such a boring weekend again.

We don’t like to go out of our comfort zone.

We all like to stay at home because it’s more comfortable.

But by staying in our comfort zone we don’t get new experiences or new adventures.

The TV and almost everything that you can see on this device (except the News and documentation) is not real. Your favorite TV series and movies are not real. You feel with them and the feeling you’re feeling is real but the rest isn’t.

But we are spending so much time watching unreal stories instead of going out in the world and experiencing real stories.

I realized this again a few days ago when Avicii (a famous DJ) died.

When somebody is dying, then nobody cares about what TV series he watched or how much he knew about them.

It doesn’t matter. What matters is, that he inspired and touched so many people with his songs. His music makes me happy.

That’s what I want to do in life too. And I think everybody wants to do things that matter in this world.

If you die, how would you like them to remember you?

I don’t want to be remembered as boring, lazy, or as a TV series junkie.

How do you want them to remember you?

I want to be remembered as a loving and passionate person.

So we have to get out of our comfort zone to get to the life we want to live.

I now started attending a dancing class because I really like to dance. And I never attended one because I didn’t want to dance with strangers. And I still don’t like to dance with strangers but that’s what I’m doing now.

The first lesson was uncomfortable and awkward. But I’m glad that I did it and now I will get to know more people.

And I’m getting out of my comfort zone and it feels awkward in these lessons but afterward, I’m always glad that I’m doing it because I’m learning a lot from it.

So think about what you would like to do that will get you out of your comfort zone.

Start with something small but challenge yourself.

Everybody knows where the comfort zone ends and where the limits are.

You don’t have to go bungee jumping now, but if you like to do it someday, then you should start with a small step like jumping from the 10-meter platform in the lido.

Start with something that sounds awkward, makes you nervous, and challenges you a bit.

Some examples:

  • Talking with your crush,
  • talking to a stranger,
  • going out for dinner alone,
  • going to a bar alone, or
  • jumping from the 10-meter platform.

For some people talking to a stranger is a normal thing, but for others, it isn’t.

You expand your comfort zone by doing something outside of it.

Remember your first day at a new school. You got out of your comfort zone and it felt awkward and nerve-wracking, but after a few weeks, it felt like everyday life. And you don’t bother anymore because you expanded your comfort zone.

Expand your comfort zone by doing something awkward or nerve-wracking.

At the end of your life, you will regret the things you didn’t do.

And next weekend I will go out of my comfort zone so that I don’t have a boring weekend and life anymore.
